5 /5 Kieron Sinnette: This morning I made my way out to Our Lady of Victory Church for Sunday Mass. Before I settle on a parish, I always like to visit at least a couple different chapels. There are many Catholic churches in Troy, so we have options. Upon entering Our Lady of Victory, its immediately apparent that this is a different caliber of church. Im welcomed by a parishioner at the "Welcome" area and after a brief introduction Im given member onboarding paperwork. I also take the opportunity to grab a calendar and a letter from our Pope. The welcome process was very similar to that of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS / Mormon Church). Im still a baptized member of the LDS church, however, due to the fact that I drink coffee and alcohol, among other activities, I am in an inactive status. I still however am on the mailing list and am assigned to the 2nd Ward in Revere MA. As a child I was baptized, had first communion, and got confirmed in the Catholic Church. I attended Holy Name Preparatory and Fatima College in Port-of-Spain, T&T. Both schools are administered privately by different Catholic institutions. This upbringing Im assuming is the reason for my sensitivity to the solemnity required when attending mass. Its similar for LDS member meetings. As I made my way into the chapel, I couldnt shake the feeling that getting dressed for an evening of festivities to attend morning mass wasnt the best idea. Then after making my way to a pew and sitting for a few minutes, it was clear I had to make some adjustments. I quickly ran to the restroom to tuck in my shirt among other things and told myself to "embrace the discomfort." I came to mass to be among fellow believers and most of all to be edified. This wasnt the reminder I was expecting this morning, but Im happy I got it! I highly recommend a visit to Our Lady of Victory. #ImperialPurple #Victory #OurLadyOfVictory
