Then day of she came on time and got 5 women total done with perfect hair ready for the day, each of us with very different hair lengths and texture. Even after a super windy photo session my hair was still immaculate for the ceremony and dancing!

T G For my queer, trans, and all other LGBTQIA+ folx, book your appointment. I had the pleasure of going to Rose Hair & Healing yesterday to get a haircut. It could not have been a better experience. She gave me exactly what I wanted, asked my pronouns, involved my mom that came with me, checked in multiple times, and even checked that I was okay sensory wise (Im autistic but didnt disclose that, which tells me she likely asks everyone). This is the first time Ive gotten a haircut where I got exactly what I asked for. I traveled an hour and paid more than I usually would have, and Ill continue doing that from now on. 10/10 cannot recommend enough. Also she doesnt have gendered haircuts which was a big draw for me, she has 1 price for clipper cuts and 1 for haircuts. This was by far the most gender affirming haircut Ive ever gotten.

Laura K Ive been seeing Amy for almost 10 years and love her! I have very thick hair with some challenging cowlicks. Shes always up to the task! Ive come to realize that I need to work with my hairs quirks and I discuss with her what doesnt work or what I dont like and she works around that. I bring inspiration pics as a guide but I trust her to be creative. I decided in 2015 to stop dying my hair (myself) due to resistant grey’s and let it grow out. I don’t like my natural color and decided highlight would be a good transition from my darker hair to the grey and bring out a bit of the blond from childhood. She does a beautiful job! Shes a sweetheart and Im so glad to have found her! Shes not currently in a traditional salon space so she doesnt have a fancy coffee machine or the like but its quiet and there are very few people to come in contact with (if thats a plus for you). Although shes in downtown Troy near the monument, Ive never had an issue finding parking (I dont go on Saturdays during the farmers market).

Rashida This hair salon is amazing. The owner started on time and my retwist was faster than expected. You can tell she loves what she does because she was able to give me tips on how to manage my hair. She let me try out her growth oil & it really moisturized my scalp. Brittany P. I am so happy that this salon is hijabi friendly. The owner (Nef) has been trimming my hair for years. Even before I started wearing the hijab, she has a question (when booking an appointment) asking if you wear a hijab. This question is rare in the beauty world outside the Muslim community. Unfortunately many black salon aren’t hijabi friendly but I am glad this one has that option. I have gone to Nef twice and she makes sure that no one outside can see me and if there someone else schedule after me that they are female (since we can’t show our hair to men). I am so happy that the salon I have been going to for years has this option and it’s available me to the Muslim community. Muslim women can definitely come to this salon and feel accommodated.

Darius Atkinson I’m from out of state and this was my first time getting my haircut in NY. They do it differently out here. Service was a 10/10, the guys were easy to talk to and very good at making entertaining and good conversation. Both of the guys were charismatic and knew what they were doing and loved what they did. Now the haircutting. I booked and got a cut with Jonathan last time, and good lord does he know what he’s doing. Everything from his fades to his lineups are pristine. He takes time and a lot of focus to give you the right haircut. He is very knowledgeable and great at what he does. My girlfriend loved my haircut all thanks to Jonathan. He gave me an incredible cut, and did extra stuff that I didn’t ask for and didn’t charge me a cent extra. Anyone who goes here better tip well because this barber shop Is more than worth it. Amazing cuts, amazing prices.

Kelly Baker Mary was able to get me in quick, same day. I had to cut off my dead ends, which ended up being a lot more length than I thought. She did her best to keep as much length as she could, while adding some layers. I did have to go back a few days later to have some of the layers adjusted, which she also got me in quickly and didnt charge me for. She has an affordable price, and is fun to chat with while getting the cut!

I was hoping for a low-maintenance style to help my long hair that grows out dead straight from the crown and is wavy everywhere else. Kevin was able to break up my hair, blending in subtle layers as he went. I waited a week before leaving a review to see how my hair looked when I wasnt just walking out of a salon. I still have movement and I am now able to coax a little curl out of the top layer myself with minimal effort. He suggested styling products without pushing me to buy anything from him. He seemed like an unassuming, nice guy who enjoys what he does. Im very happy.
