5 /5 Steven Mccornack: This is the REAL DEAL. The head instructor (Nahnie) is a "grand-daughter" - that is, she was trained by a teacher who trained under Pilates himself - and it shows in everything she does. Forget the new-agey, watered-down nonsense that so often passes for mat "Pilates" these days. This will be THE hardest - and MOST BENEFICIAL - core workout you will ever experience. Not only is her cueing superlative/peerless (I say this as someone who has taught in the fitness industry for more than two decades), she is absolutely meticulous and relentless in observing/detecting and correcting every single "cheat" (my word, not hers), large or small, that students engage in - keeping everyone in perfect alignment throughout each class. She is warm, funny, supportive, and FIERCE. She doesnt sugarcoat corrections. To borrow upon a distinction regarding teachers offered by the Abbot of the local Buddhist monastery: Nahnie is a "tiger" teacher rather than a "lamb" teacher - albeit a friendly and KIND tiger. :-) If youre looking for someone who only is going to tell you how wonderful you are and how perfect your form is all the time, look elsewhere. My wife (who has taught barre, step, etc. for 40 years) and I both agree that she is THE best instructor we have EVER had the honor to work with. If you want to truly get your core in shape, TRAINING AT OLD TOWN PILATES WILL BE TRANSFORMATIVE.
