St Stephen Catholic Church - Hinesville (GA)

4 /5 Leo Rios: I have been going to this church for as long as I have been alive. The pastor and deacon are friendly and welcome new people. This church has a large community so it is easy to make small talk. While I do love going here and being an alter server, there are downsides. In my 12 years of being here many people have left due to not feeling comfortable or included. People should not be shamed for being gay or having tattoos or piercings. Those are common reasons why people leave sometimes. While this is a good church for people who just want to go to Sunday mass, I don’t feel like this is the greatest church.

5 /5 Chloe Boyd: My husband and I attend St. Stephens and it is where we were received and confirmed into the church! Father Paul is an amazing preist! We feel so blessed to call this our church home!

3 /5 Sarah A: If you’re looking for a more orthodox Catholic Church, this probably isn’t the church for you. Maybe it’s the current circumstances in the world (Covid), but we weren’t impressed with our visit to St Stephen. 1)They announced at the beginning of mass that they wouldn’t allow the faithful to receive on the tongue, we are one of those families who only receives on the tongue. 2) One of the altar servers was wearing a Boston red Sox mask-that seemed very inappropriate for someone serving at the altar of our Lords true body, blood, soul and divinity. 3) We didn’t like at the end of mass there were birthday/anniversary announcements and clapping, while I appreciate the community aspect this brings, there is a time and place for these celebrations. In the church, still in the presence of Christ, should be an atmosphere of reverence, not clapping and chatting. While I am sure it is a wonderful church, our visit left us with a desire for a church with more reverence. Everyone was indeed very friendly, but it seems to be a much more “progressive” church rather than a traditional church. Just my personal opinion. 5 /5 Erik Konig: Wonderful place to worship as well as fellowship. Saturday evening mass and Sunday service are both exceptional. Deacon Doug Delzeith has been a tremendous blessing in my time of need. Peace be to you, thank you St Stephens Catholic Church.

5 /5 Katy Dospoy: The best church I have EVER been a part of. The priest is so welcoming. And the community is the best. My children (3 and 2) love going here for church every Sunday!
