1 /5 Bonnie Price: We are from out-of-state and we attend our home church every Sunday.
We have visited many other churches when we are away from our home church.
This church is of our same faith, and seemed to be ideally located for us to attend while we are in the mountains.
It is a lovely church building. Some sweet people, but overall quite reserved. Sadly, the service seemed very stiff. Though sweet hymns were sung, no passion or joy was noted. We realized it was made quite clear in the bulletin that there would be no praise-type music (as it is considered "entertainment"), but we love all the old traditional hymns with organ and piano, so that was fine. What stunned us was the lack of visible joy when worshipping God. Where were the smiles and glistening eyes of emotion that we usually see in church?
We totally agree that worship is the serious business of heaven...that we are there to hear every Bible word and digest it with seriousness. However, this church is solemn to the point of lacking joy, as is their minister. Of course he needed to stress the importance of his Bible teaching, but with no smile and seemed a bit harsh and edgy. By his own demeanor and delivery, a pastor also needs to portray a loving Jesus when delivering the Bible message.
For those who prefer a very serious church service and worship, this church fits.
If you are looking for your soul to be filled with Gods word, and the joy of the love of God when you worship, and that joy to accompany you home afterwards, then perhaps this church might seem a disappointment.
