2 /5 Tanya Browning: When I was looking for a new gym, this one was very close to my home. I almost didnt sign up, though, because of his replies to criticisms people offered. I joined anyway. So now my experience matches those other people. Do not expect the owner to provide anything like good customer service. He will play the "poor me" card if you have any billing issues. His fee agreement with his billing processor will not allow him to show any flexibility. I was a member for three or four years, paying every month, and only went a handful of times. When I finally canceled, he showed zero flexibility in waiving the annual club fee, which was to be charged at the same time as my final payment. When I asked if he would be willing to refund that fee, his response was "why would you be refunded, Tanya?" Blah, blah, blah. Horribly rude. And I fully expect he will respond to this post in a manner that will only prove my point. Watch and see. Hell blame me.
And just to cut him off at the pass, I had one month that my debit card failed because it had to be replaced. I didnt realize it until I got a collection notice (so quickly). He was the ONLY merchant who charged me a fee for that and his reasoning was that he was charged for it so I should be charged for it. He did finally agree to refund me, but I had to come into the gym to pick it up in cash.
Other that that, its a good gym. I like the small, private, feel of it. Really only people there who are serious about working out. So long as you dont have any billing issues, your experience will be reasonably good.
Update: Brians posting of our entire email conversation just proves my point. Thank you, Brian.
