5 /5 Liz* Needham: I stayed away from church for many, many years due to strict dogma and foundational disagreements. As a child and into my teens, I was an avid churchgoer as my father was a preacher and was a living and true testament of the power of Jesus Christ as he suffered with cancer, drug addiction (doctor ordered painkillers), and dark days of depression. When he died at the tender age of 48, my world ended and my light went out. To make my life story short, I experienced a life-threatening illness in April 2023. I had the whole of the United States (it seemed like) praying for me. My 89-year-old mother cried out, praying over me as I lay in my hospital bed. Her cry was heard, and my eyes were opened! Since my great awakening, I feel an intense need to thank and praise the Lord for giving me a healing. This is how I ended up at Park Avenue Baptist Church. My mother and sister laud the services, many of which are reminiscent of our childhood memories of church. The singing is so inspirational and spirit-filled. The congregation is God-fearing and compassionate. And the pastor, Pastor Steve, is truly anointed by God to preach the gospel and share the news with all who will listen. There is no lack of shouting and praising the Lord. If you are looking for a reserved and quiet church, this one is not for you. But if youre looking for a truly spiritual, high-spirited, God centered, and God filled services, here is your new home!!
