5 /5 Dave Lechuga: This is my home church. Ive looked far and wide and this is the closest Ive found to what a church should be. The north American church model can be found on almost any street corner and thats not what I was looking for. The same old thing doesnt challenge me, help me to grow, and make an impact in the community as its primary role. This place does all those things and does them well. The Sunday message is given by a rotating group as well as guest speakers. In my opinion this is necessary so that no one gets a big head and has a great fall like weve seen so many times before. Most churches are churches WITH small groups, Oakwood is a church OF small groups. Theyre focus is outward, growing the universal body of Christ. Not inward, growing the number of attendees. When was the last time you heard a pastor more concerned with spreading the gospel and making disciples (who then go and make other disciples who start their own church) than growing their own numbers?? Thats why Im here.
