5 /5 Will Carpenter: I truly believe that I witnessed a miracle at this holy place on 1/18/2025.
I spent the day making friends with the homeless fentanyl addicted population of Inverness. I treated them as equals. Broke bread with them and told them about the men that I was meeting vs the men they believed themselves to be.
For some reason, after a whole day of this, these fine young men believed me and trusted me enough to believe in themselves.
We went for a long walk to distract them from their sickness. Along the way one man mentioned he once was given a feast of a meal because these fine folks at this church saw him having a bad day at their Gazebo.
I asked him if maybe these good things that have happened to him might be God knowing him to be the man I know and like myself just trying to help him out.
As we passed the church he remembered theres a water hose out back and we were mighty thirsty (bless you for that drink). He drank and then he decided that he was not the same man that walked into camp that morning. He was born again on pizza day.
He asked me to baptize him.
I returned home after walking them back to camp.
5 hours later the other man I spent most of my time with walked down to a store he could get wifi from so he could find me on Facebook to tell me thank you for pizza day. I love you.
If that was the only gift God gave me that night I would already be a blessed man. This man said he only has a short time to live, he had been planning to burn out. Now he wants to get well and help others to avoid his situation or get out of it. He has hope that he will leave a legacy his son who has disowned him will one day be proud of.
The other gentleman that was baptized I found the next morning. He did not at all look like the same man that showed up the day before.
He told me that he didnt know what to do today, he only knows it cant be what he did the day before pizza day.
I told him to find his true north and walk with love for himself and everyone he meets and we will find his way there.
Thank you for all of your love and warmth that youve shown these wayward men. With your help I was able to show them the love of God.
We all need one another. Its why God put us all here together. To rage care of one another.
