Dr. Jodie Calain

(3) Reviews Dr. Jodie Calain:

Katie The unprofessionalism I experienced by this Dr. Calain and Flagler Family Medicine is truly despicable. If you are considering her, please do not disregard her unfavorable reviews on various sites. I was "released" as a patient from a phone conversation with her nurse/assistant where I contested their internal prior authorization office policy. I didn’t elevate my voice, use profanity, or demonstrate any egregious behavior warranting such a punitive outcome. I opposed requiring an in person appointment when Aetna would accept a verbal prior authorization on a medication I had only taken for 2 months. I advocated for myself to avoid an unnecessary fee & not delay medication by requesting an exception to this obvious, revenue seeking policy. The conclusion was to allow the exception considering the circumstances. Lacking any basic decency or communication skills she, nor her assistant informed me of the abrupt “release” or the prior authorization not being called in after being informed it would be. My portal access was disabled and it took me calling days later & being bounced around until someone reluctantly informed me I was no longer a patient due to “my behavior” with the nurse/assistant. A directive straight from Dr. Calain, herself they said. To say I was shocked is an understatement. Thankfully, I had witnesses who heard this “behavior” and affirmed my sanity. This is an abuse of authority as a physician as I have no recourse to contest or a due process. Her rash and unfounded decision has now caused me inconvenience, delay in care, and unnecessary side effects. If a physician can subjectively dismiss patients, which is within their right to do, but without any regard for patient care and for something as bias, infantile, and subjective as a he said/she said conversation, I’m fearful of what else they can do.

Mary Calain Dr Calain has been treating my high blood pressure for 6 yrs. It is stable as is my cholesterol. When I had Pneumonia, shingles and covid (not at the same time) She quickly prescribed the necessary medications and treatments that made theses less serious .

Afra Chaudhri Dr. Yasin and staff are very pleasant with me and my kids. I have been going there for 16 years and she is my pediatrician for all my kids. I love it here. I never have trouble getting ASAP appointments. They always fit me in whenever theres an emergency. Dr. Yasin is always so nice and sweet and caring when dealing with kids. She makes them feel at ease. My kids are really comfortable with her. Her staff is super friendly and smiling at all times. I love the fact that office makes me and my kids feel at home. It doesnt feel like a doctors office which comforts my kids.

Diana Welden I started as a new patient several months ago, and really enjoyed my visit with Dr Tran. She is thorough and listens to concerns. However, my review is geared towards the Flagler Primary Care facility as a whole. Since my initial visit, I was seen for a shoulder issue. Dr Tran ordered an xray and mri for Flagler Imaging and it was supposed to be sent to them directly. After at least 3 follow up phone calls back and forth, (because the imaging center never received the order) it was finally sent to Flagler Imaging. After my x-ray, I received no follow up from UF Health Primary Care. I called the office, and left three voicemails on Dr Trans testing results line (I waited 48 hours in between as requested). Finally, after no follow up, I stopped by the office. At that point, they still had not read my x-ray (it had been at least a week). If they are busy, I understand but it only takes a minute to call be back for an update. I waited one more day for them to finally call back with xray results, and then they ordered the MRI. After the mri results were given to me, Dr Tran suggested a 2nd mri for a different look. She said she would place the request, and I would hear from someone in a few days. Its now been two weeks and I have not received one phone call from UF Health Primary Care OR Flagler Imaging. In the meantime, I went ahead and made and appointment at JOI. They read my initial results and set me up with a treatment plan same day. In short, I wasted a lot of time with the primary care. Dr Tran seems like a great doctor, but the facility is very lacking with its communication and follow up. Good luck to anyone that visits and expects thorough follow up. This seems to be a consistent problem if you read the negative reviews.

Josie H We take our sons to see Dr Tawes and we REALLY like him! However, its impossible to make an appointment to see him. Ive been calling and leaving messages for days and no one will even call me back. Also, the receptionist was one of the rudest people I have ever had to interact with. What do I have to do to get a call back? UPDATE: Im changing my review to 5 stars. The rude receptionist no longer works there, and Dr. Tawes is simply the BEST! Were so fortunate to have found him.

Steve Giovanni I cannot say enough good things about my experience with St Augustine Neurology. All of the staff are incredibly professional and accommodating. The waiting area is clean, calm, and comfortable, and wait times are kept to a minimum. Dr. Wei is exceptionally knowledgeable and takes the time to listen attentively to your concerns. During my consultations, I felt truly heard, and he explained everything to me in detail, making sure I understood my diagnosis and treatment options. I would highly recommend St Augustine Neurology to anyone seeking compassionate, expert neurological care. They go above and beyond to ensure their patients feel supported and informed every step of the way. It’s truly a top-notch facility!

Darlene H I cant say enough positive things about Dr Wei and his staff. First, the ladies are friendly, professional, and helpful. I applaud them for their patience in dealing with the huge increase in St. Johns County population/patients. Dr. Wei has a gentle nature but "no nonsense" attitude. I appreciate his way of telling me the truth. His time is valuable and im

Lurch _ They overbook. As you walk in, you encounter a sign stating that “if you are more than 15 min after your scheduled appointment, you will need to reschedule”… however, when they or the doctors are running over 1.5 hours behind, you are just expected to sit and wait your turn. The least the receptionists can do is call the clients with appointments to inform them of the delay or reschedule. The clients/patients time is just as important and valuable as the doctor’s time. Poor service at best. Seek another provider.

Nancy Fenton Update…..so one week later & no one has called me. They simply assumed what I needed & sent my referral to same rheumatologist that Dr. Usman referred me to at my last visit on 10/8. I tried to contact them several times to tell them that I wanted the referral sent to another doctor in St. Augustine ( there was another reason I tried to contact them, but gave up on that one.). Sadly the doctors office they sent it to last week had to send back to Dr. Usmans office & tell them what I wanted. To my knowledge, that has not been done. Usman is a wonderful doc, unfortunately his office staff is ruining his reputation. Immediate changes are mandatory for the success of this practice!

Christina C I got a new insurance company & found Dr. Connor’s office accepted it. I called & was able to get an appointment the next week. My first time going to the office was great, it was easy to find & there was plenty of parking available. Inside looked nice & clean. The front desk staff was very nice & easy to speak with. There was very little wait from the time I finished my paperwork to when they called me back. The MA that took my vitals & info was very sweet. I saw Christy the nurse practitioner & she was very nice, asked lots of questions & made sure I understood everything & before ending the appointment she made a point to ask if there was any other concerns I had. Great first impression of this office from beginning to end! I left feeling very happy & comfortable that I’m in good hands with my health concerns.

Hope Sharpe I have been a patient of Dr Connors office for 27 years. Last year I got an appt with Pamela Price, and she was very thorough with me, making sure all my issues were addressed. She has the best bedside manner and it seems like she truly cares about my health. Today I went back to see her and got my son established as a patient there, too. Pamela Price again took great care of us, heard our concerns, and came up with a plan of care to get certain things taken care of quickly. She is wonderful, and I enjoy her being with Dr Connor.

Marion Kiley I have been under Dr, Perumals care since 2009 for PD. Her approach is to limit the casual conversation and get to the material matters at hand. Her diagnostic skills in my case have been exact and the treatment regimen has been tailored to my particular situation. She provides encouragement, handles the insurance claims very efficiently and follows up when appropriate.

Tammy Ann Good morning, I was a visitor there the other day I think Saturday, and my mom was in room 14. I got my visitors pass and the person in the ER desk opened the door for me. I go in a few feet and noticed a person sitting there with a green/blue scrubs. Not sure what dept she’s from but she looked in her mid 50s and looked Spanish.. I asked her where room 14 was and it looked like she was on her phone talking because she said “hold on” to someone. I didn’t know you can be on your phone. Also when coming out, going back into the ED lobby, I passed through the same area and I can hear Spanish music blasting. I don’t think that’s professional. I see that’s there’s no one in that area but I still think it’s unprofessional to play music loud. I Managed to take pictures of the area and worker that was on her phone and playing music really loud. I wasn’t sure what area she was in.. but as I was leaving, I managed to get these photos

Debbie Van Dijk Hospital ER has vastly improved since UF took over. More efficient and quickly check you out . So very clean now! I hope the whole hospital has improved this much. Felt much safer here than the last time I was there. I had to have emergency care a few months ago , refused to go here. I went to the ER from St. Vincents on 210. They are awesome. UF is getting there!

otter van pööl Went there for bad arrhythmia. I was told they worked with my insurance company and everything was good. He seemed nice, told me I should not drink coffee but needed blood work to see what was wrong. I was sent to get blood work somewhere else because they could not do that there. He set up my return appointment 2 weeks later. When I returned I told him I was getting dizzy and a headache that would not go away. I had a headache for a week straight. He told me my blood work looks fine so everything is okay... He then told me he will set up another appointment in 6 months to see how Im doing. He left, he left the room telling the nurse to set up a 6-month appointment for me. I would not recommend this doctor I dont think he paid attention to me, when I asked for the patient summary, there were notes on there we never talked about. The best part of it they were not in network so now Im getting charged over $600 for someone that didnt do anything. The nurse at the front window was polite and caring.

dave crist We tried to make a simple travel exam appointment which he advertised on his website. We tried to show them the form we needed signed and they told us they would call us tomorrow. The next day they called and said they would get us a new patient appointment. When we asked about getting our travel forms signed she said she wasn’t sure if he could sign those. We explained again that that’s the whole purpose of us going there and she said we would have to drop the form off again as they had no email! And first we’d need a new patient appointment with no guarantee if the doctor would sign our forms or not! Avoid this place!!! The doctor might be good but the ladies working the front desk are awful!!!!

Leonor Conzevoy One of the worst, if not "The Worst" experience of my adult life with a doctor whos supposed to be an expert on pain management. I went for an epidural shot. This doctor never took the time to explain to me how was she going to. proceed i.e. with or without sedation. All the instructions I got prior to the procedure was ONE page dealing with fasting and medications. Only after I walked in the room where it happened, I realized that I was going to be awake all throughout the procedure. At some point I started feeling unwell...quire unwell. It was a very uncomfortable situation, to say the least. While I was being assisted this doctor had the audacity to say to me: "You should have told me..." I still dont know what exactly is it that she expected me to tell her, that I was going to faint that morning? Or perhaps that my expectations were on a par with prior instances where I was informed of all the details concerning the procedure? Finally, when I recovered sufficiently to have a semi coherent conversation with the doctor, I informed her that I had never had an epidural without sedation, she mumbled something to the effect that for that she had to do it at a day surgery center. Was that an inconvenience? Things didnt get much better in the recovery room. While being monitored for my vitals, I asked the nurse for something to drink. She came back with the tinniest of plastic cups with some room temperature, flat 7-Up. After that horrific episode, one would expect a follow-up phone call from the office the next day to check on me. NONE came!! This doctor and her staff get a ZERO on bedside manners. In the many years that Ive been treated for my chronic back problems, never have I experienced such an inadequate, rough treatment by any physician. I wish I could give her a zero star.

Rosie117 Halo I had a terrible experience at this orthopedic clinic. I was there for a follow up appointment but the night before I injured my foot. I told them that it was swollen, bruised and painful. The receptionist said sorry we can’t see you for that. That’s a different doctor so I did go in to see my doctor to follow up on my hip which was fine. I had been discharged from physical therapy and I told him about my foot and he told me that he did not do feet I am so disappointed with the way that I was treated here. Nobody seemed to care about the fact that I had a painful, swollen, bruised foot. They did have plenty of excuses, though as to why the doctor could not see my foot. In fact, the next day, I went to my podiatrist and they x-rayed my foot and it is indeed broken. I felt like there was a lack of empathy in the office at UF orthopedic specialist. It’s hard for me to believe that any doctor that graduated from medical school and specializing in orthopedic medicine could not look at a foot and perhaps prescribe an x-ray and some guidance. Instead, I got sent on my way. I hobbled out of the building and I was told good luck with your foot. Luckily, I am able to advocate for myself and I found another provider, but I will never ever go back to UF Orthopedic Specialists. I felt like the office did not care about me as a person and lack empathy for me. These are not the type of providers that I could develop a relationship with and trust for my care. Next time I will go to Southeast orthopedics. I cannot believe that I have a fractured foot and I could not get the doctor at UF orthopedic specialist to even visualize it.
