Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing - El Paso A A: Love this school! Great instructors that actually care about how you are doing. They regularly follow up with you and are genuinely concerned. However, it is a very very hard program. You will not make it through this program if you are not focused. Time management accounts for a lot.
I was gainfully employed as an RN after I graduated. El Paso Community College - Administrative Services Center - EPCC ASC - El Paso Thomas Black: Ms. Joci in the cosmetology class not teaching or putting much effort, shes rude and inconsiderate, causing the students to waste thousands of dollars on a class that they dont get the full benefit from, very disappointed and I do plan on pushing this issue until it is resolved. Please make sure she does better! The students are confused and not getting clear answers or instructions when learning new topics and she seems to not care smh. Nelson University - Waxahachie Nate Cress: The SAGU experience is one you cant forget. SAGU is full of passionate people going after the call of God on their life whether thats in ministry or in business. The professors are phenomenal (at least the majority of them, but we all have our opinions). Dont get me wrong. SAGU has an ugly side too, but it really depends on the student. If you want to succeed at Southwestern, youll find a great group of people to help you along the way. If you want to go here just to party and hangout with friends that just happen to go here, Id say save your money. This school is too pricey to just throw your education out the window.
As far as dorms go, personally, I suggest Guynes. Youll find a whole bunch of people who will disagree with me on that though. Guynes 2nd floor was where I stayed. Kendrick is great for the close nit girls who want to escape for the guys for a bit. Savell tends to be the Pastoral Majors group, although that may have changed. The newer dorms are beautiful and very private (I never really visited them much).
As a note: SAGU can get expensive. If you are a freshman, I suggest going to a community college for at least the first year if not the first two years of your college education. This will dramatically help with cost. Dont worry about "getting the college experience" either. Youll have plenty of time to get the "college experience" after getting your basics out of the way.
Another great way to save: SAGU has agreed to accept DSOM students who have completed their Berean courses and received credentials from the AG up to 9 credit hours per completed year. Thats up to 27 credit hours. DSOM costs about $1200 per year, so the investment is about $3600 for 27 credit hours. Thats not too bad. You should call about this to get all the details though.
There are always scholarships and grants to help you along the way. Navarro College - Waxahachie - Waxahachie Matthew Gonzales: My first day of college during the start of 2023 DID NOT get off to a good start! The lady who I assumed was the professor of my only algebra class was completely lost and had no clue what she was doing at all! It was as if she was acting like a substitute! Later in the semester she was in my tutorial class “subbing” for my real professor and said to everyone that she WASN’T a MATH PERSON! Everybody including me was like WHY ARE YOU EVEN HERE!? The biggest lesson I learned at the end of 2023 is that it’s important to drop certain classes when there’s someone who appears to be really lost. Every student should know that they CANNOT teach themselves something they DON’T KNOW! Despite having a rough start I still managed to succeed in my other classes where there were real professors that assisted me with my studies. Southwestern Adventist University - Keene Ohms R: I spent one day here in 1990 taking a state-required exam. The campus was pretty and clean while the people I met were friendly and welcoming, particularly the faculty. If its still like that today Im sure its a good place to go to college.
