Crane ISD Cafeteria - Crane Jamie 0xJxxMx0: My experience is with the cafeteria at the elementary school. Lunch costs $3 a day and breakfast costs $1.60 (I think). It goes higher for the junior high and high school and its also higher for adults. My child really likes the selections that they offer. Every day they offer a hot option, a sandwich option and a salad option. In addition to the regular lunch foods they also offer snacks and slushies ice cream and other snack items for extra costs. The lunch ladies seem to interact well with the kids. Ive never heard a complaint from my child about anyone in the lunchroom giving her a hard time or anything like that. The only issue I have with the CISD lunch program is that they have a policy of once a child gets to a certain negative amount in their lunch account they start serving them the cold Cheese Sandwich Tray just like youve seen publicized on the news about other school lunch programs across the country. Thats a policy I just dont agree with. Because thats a failing on the parents part and I dont agree that the child should have to suffer and be made to look like an outcast or different because the parent messed up somehow. Its an unfair policy, but not the fault of the cafeteria itself. Its the CISD thats at fault for that particular gem. The school cafeterias are not open to the public. As far as I know you can only get special permission to eat with your child on certain days of the school year.
