FIU Miami Beach Urban Studios - Miami Beach Sebastian Varillas: My experience at Miami Beach Urban Studios was underwhelming. I can only point out two good things about this place: their amazing coordinator, Jacqueline Thompson, and being able to walk to the beach because it was nearby. Their technology might be advanced but it is of no use when your professors decide that it is not necessary for any of your assignments. There was nothing I could do here that I could not have done at MMC, so coming here twice a week for a whole semester felt like a waste of time, energy and money. West Coast University - Miami - Doral Mike P: A close relative of mine failed her recent class in Pediatrics which they tested for this week. All this began when the original teacher had to leave due to pregnancy and was replaced by someone less competent who taught from her experience instead of the assigned material. So because she followed her own agenda but tested the students using West Coast material, the students were placed at a disadvantage. Most of the class failed this week and what this looks like is a waste of $$ and time. West Coast needs to make this right. What West Coast did to my relative is an embarrassment. You have no idea the financial burden you place on our family. All because putting incompetent teachers to teach at times. I definitely would rethink befor sending my kids to this school. Lindsey Hopkins Technical College - Miami James White: Lindsey Hopkins Technical College is THE flagship for adult and career/technical education in Miami-Dade County. There is a variety of programs ranging from ESOL and GED to HVAC, electricity, culinary, and fashion programs where students can get industry certified. The faculty and staff are friendly and professional, and the facility is safe with an outstanding security team. The number of students Ive seen more success stories than you would believe including students that started in the ESOL program, registered for CTE classes and then got employed with Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Humboldt International University - Miami Marco Medrano: Unaware of how to go about furthering my education, and with limited financial resources to do so, a friend of mine recommended Humboldt International University, an educational institution dedicated to educate working students with families and with full-time jobs, as was my case, fully online through virtual, asynchronous classes.
My experience was excellent. The staff at their Miami offices was very pleasant and attentive (I had the opportunity to meet the Academic Dean and two of their professors there) the enrollment process streamlined, the cost very affordable, and best of all, their educational materials very solid. The student platform, built on the user-friendly Moodle, is simple to use, and astoundingly always up and functioning.
Although HIU, as they call it, offers associates, bachelors, masters and even a doctorate program in business administration, they specialize in educating working adults with a special focus on the skills needed in the 21st century marketplace -- global, strategic, technical -- all with a concentration in learning problem solving methodologies inside out, something that is so vital and important to the educational process today.
The school is brand new, founded in 2013, and will pass its full accreditation process by the end of 2016, so, in the meantime, take full advantages of their scholarships and special pricing. Artemis World Campus - Miami Beach Ghazal Babai: The Artemis Admissions team is awesome! They helped me out so much with my application and even went above and beyond to help me find an apartment walking distance to the Artemis Study Center. Im so stoked to start my program and study abroad after my year in Miami. Thanks, Artemis, you guys rock! College of Arts and Sciences - Coral Gables DΛVΞ GΛRCIΛ: The College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Miami is a wonderful place – good staff of professors, associate professors and counselors to guide you. The building itself has character, but that’s because it projects its age. The garden around has a nice light during the day and student can sit an study around the building
