1 /5 Joanna C.: I went to this salon a year and a half ago during their re-opening after a change in ownership, and the service was fantastic, the workers were all lovely and respectful and my friend and I had a great mani pedi experience. I had since recommended this salon to a couple others. I live in another country now, so have come back now 1.5 years later, excited to go back to have my nails done for a wedding. I called in advance to check the timing before arriving, when I arrived there was only one older woman working, who had a lovely demeanour, but really difficult to communicate with, a lot got lost in translation, including cost, and how long it would take. She also had her phone on speaker and was having a long loud conversation while I was sitting there, which was awkward. She did my pedicure well and prepped my nails, but I then had to wait for 30 minutes for someone else to arrive (this was at 930am) from a coffee run to do the nail design I had requested (an hombre on my natural nails).
When the younger woman arrived, she seemed angry from the second she walked in the door, and really made me feel I was an inconvenience. I was asking a few times how it would work and what the process was, and she didnt really respond. Originally she was using powder to dip into, as I expected, then it wasnt the right darkness so she removed it and did a spray technique. She worked fast, but was not being very careful, and also got spray paint and thick gel polish all over my cuticles and under my nails. And rather then removing it with a solution or heat etc. She clipped it off after the fact with a cuticle cutter really excessively so that half my fingertips were cut into very messily and uncomfortably. I was shocked, so tried to approach it gently, also asking if she could at least clean up the top with something which still had spray paint & gel on my cuticles at the end, and she essentially told me that this is how it is, it will wash off after many hand washes, and that I wanted this on my natural nails so this is how its done and thats just how it is.. I was very shocked, but didnt want to cause a scene, so just went to wash my hands and pay, as I was on a very tight timeline flying out the next day. When I got to the front, it was a little bit more expensive than I was originally told, so I asked if she could tell me why the pedicure was more expensive, it was not the one I was told by the other lady, but I said oh okay, thats fine, there must have been a miscommunication in the beginning but no worries I can pay that. Then she turned to the older woman and yelled at her in front of everyone, even when I said really it was fine, she continued to publicly reprimand her repetitively for not being clear. It was extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional, and the 2 others in the salon also looked uncomfortable to witness that. I went ahead and left a tip anyway, as the older woman had done a lovely job before the younger lady came in. I walked out feeling really uncomfortable, but was at least happy that the nails themselves looked nice (minus my chopped up finger cuticles). This was 5 days ago, they have all peeled off last night already. It started bubbling off from the cuticle end on day 3 with water getting underneath. It was $50 for the manicure
Sadly, I no longer recommend this salon. In the 2 times I went previously the service was very different and I was happy to have a local salon to revisit in the future. I will not be returning due to the unprofessional woman who seemed to be in charge, and the poor quality manicure that was provided, regretfully. *The photos taken are immediately in the car just after with lots of oil on, and a couple hours later after showering to check the damage done on my fingertips & state of my cuticles.
