2 /5 Bill Smith: I spent three years in this church after my honorable discharge from the US Navy in Alameda. I was truly hungering and thirsting for the righteousness of God. Initially, they made me feel I was part of a huge spiritual family, knitted together in love.
As it turned out, I found as a single black male, that I was all alone after church as natural families within this church came together. I finally had enough of the undercurrent racism that the black minority in this church tolerated. I abruptly decided to go back into the world, as they call it.
