5 /5 Veronica F: My family and I visited this church. It was welcoming and I truly enjoyed the message that was preached that Sunday. I like the simple worship nothing fancy or flashy just praising the Lord.
5 /5 Susan Davis: This church used to be a movie theater. It has a warm, friendly environment. They offer a cafe, a bookstore, and clean and spacious restrooms. They offer several services each week, which is quite convenient. You can connect online to explore the spiritual resources offered.
5 /5 Jeremiah Matthews: Outstanding Bible teaching church. I had the pleasure of attending for a few months but no long able to due to moving out of state. I still watch on live steam. Pastor Sam is great. Thanks. Keep doing Gods work.

1 /5 GinaandJulia Raddatz: We are from Germany & are backpacking across the United States. We are passing through Chico & wanted to go to church this morning. We go to church every Sunday & every single church weve been to in the US has been very welcoming to us & has allowed us to bring our backpacks into the church. We either brought them into the sanctuary or stored them into a classroom.
However, when we arrived at Calvary Chapel Chico this morning we were greeted by a very aggressive looking & sounding guy. He barked at us: "What do you want!!!???" We were stunned. We said: "Were here for church." He gave us a very disapproving look and stared us down & said: "Church is at 9!!!" It was probably 8.20 & the first people were already arriving. Still we asked: "So, when do you open up? When can we come inside?" The guy said: "It is open now." But didnt say we could come inside. There was hostility in the air. We felt so totally NOT WELCOME. We pushed on though & said: "Well, then we come inside." He seemed unhappy about it. He demanded that we hand him our backpacks right away. It made us feel uneasy. Another man who was sitting there said: "People are invading our church!"??? Invading? We took it personal and dont even know what it was supposed to mean? The other guy said that he s a security guard and continued demanding that we give him our backpacks. In the meantime other people were coming into the foyer & there was a very nice couple who shook our hands & welcomed us. But the security guys behavior was a total turn off. We told him that it was not our intention to invade anything and we simply wanted to worship at the church. We then turned around and dusted off our feet.
We have never been treated like that. Acting that way is just not the Christian way.
Gary Campbell They had me sold at coffee and donuts when you walk in, come as who you are. You dont need to dress up, I did the 10:00 a.m. Service and it was amazing.
Alyssa Hosbach I love that they offer 3 different services, which has been great with a baby and her ever-changing nap schedule. They have so many groups to get involved with too! People are very friendly and its a really nice space.
ben lazzeroni From the moment I walked into Chico First, I felt genuinely welcomed. The community is warm, and it’s clear that the people here really care about one another. The worship is powerful and heartfelt, and the messages are both biblically grounded and incredibly relevant to everyday life. Highly recommend!
Frank Guiles I’ve seen amazing healings and testimony in my two years in the congregation. Melvin Hale is truly sent by god to spread the gospel and the good news of Jesus!!!!
That church is amongst my closest experiences of connecting with God!!!!!
