Calvary Bible Church - Burbank (CA)

4 /5 Paul Yoon: This is a solid, Bible-believing church that has sound doctrine and congregants who are practicing their faith in the Lord Jesus. The most prominent portion of the Sunday worship services is the strong preaching (mostly expository). The leadership (pastors and elders) are committed to faithfully teaching Gods word and shepherding the members of the church. Currently, this church is medium-sized (around 300 attendees), so it can be challenging to get to know people. While some people are welcoming, it seems that others tend to keep to themselves or the people theyre comfortable with. To be clear, Im not saying that there are clear factions within the church. One can definitely build Christ-centered relationships with many people if he takes the initiative to do so. While I have some minor disagreements on certain elements of church doctrine and practices, I believe that this church is genuinely God-fearing, Christ-exalting, and Spirit-filled. I became a member of this church in January 2024, and Im thankful to be part of a body of believers that seeks to worship and glorify God.

5 /5 Michael Near: I started attending this church in 2001. I have grown greatly in my understanding of scripture and the character and nature of God. The teaching is sound and based exclusively on the content of the Bible. Usually the New American Standard version is preached from.The church is governed by a body of Elders...I know most of them and they are all God fearing men. If you are truly seeking God, He can be found here every Sunday.

I enjoy how friendly and inviting everyone is. CBC has various fellowship groups for everyone at every stage of life. Surely, would recommend.

5 /5 Erik: Im very impressed. This is what church should be. The 9am service is 1.5 hours long. Its structured like most services that Im used to: Singing, announcements, message, and closing song. You all know churches have a "feel" to them. I was very comfortable here. Most importantly the preaching was sound biblical teaching. It wasnt just an encouraging Joel Osteen type of message. The pastor really explained the passage and how we can relate this to our daily life. Ive been visiting churches for a while trying to find the right church. Its Monday morning and Im still moved by the message. It definitely spoke to me. Im happy to go back next week for my second visit.
