2 /5 Corrigan M: The people are very nice and we’re kind enough to stay open a few minutes late. This is not at all about attitude, they were great.
I took in some slick barber coins and a small electrum piece that I had because my refrigerator compressor had just broken and it was an emergency. I find it’s much easier to act like I don’t know anything in my first interaction with these places because then I can tell if they are honest. Spoiler: no, they are not honest in my book but that’s just my opinion.
The gold / silver electrum piece was very small, I heard her say 3 point 7/8 something like that grams and the purity was around 13k which she checked.
Minimum they should have paid me was $90 and an honest price would have been more. It was just under 2 grams of gold with that purity and the rest still silver. Purely based on the spot price they ripped me off.
PM’s are def a hard business, buying from people just under spot and selling just over it is hard, so people tend to try and get over on people who are clueless about the way it works, it very well should be illegal, think it may be but some shops are like this.
Again, I’m not complaining because I needed the cash and like to make sure I know who I’m dealing with before doing any business. I sold the gold because I needed to fix my fridge but when he offered me half spot on the rest I declined. It really is ripping people off and not cool.
Again, they were very nice people, no issues with that. Everyone has to survive somehow, but that includes customers. I won’t be back. If you are in a pinch, go ahead they will lowball you, if not they won’t give you what it’s worth look online for a fair price before walking in and even then idk if they would bother.
