4 /5 Romit Chakraborty: This review is based on an overture and the first consulting call. Natalie was effective at gathering the case files and providing information leading up to scheduling the call. Took the consulting call with Lori and am waiting for her follow-up. This is to be expected, given the holiday interim.
Lori is of a pleasurable disposition and lends a good ear. She is intelligent and responsive and puts forth her view of the situation clearly and articulately. It is evident that she has strong mental fortitude and has formidable experience in employment law.
Some points of note from my consultation with Lori
a) A consulting fee of $650 an hour is high, and one expects clarity of legal arguments, understanding and value addition in the interpretation of case materials in return for the cost incurred
b) The statistics of case outcomes, relevant jurisdictions, and their judges can be accessed online without consulting a legal practice. When engaging counsel, one is engaging in the specifics of the case, its documentary and circumstantial evidence, and seeking inferences on relevant case law that is previously unknown to the client or principally undetermined regarding its relevance to case.
c) Non-engagement, if a possibility, should be made clear to the client soon after the consultation if preceding a holiday period.
d) Accepting consulting calls during the extended holiday slowdown is deeply appreciated.
Another review will follow post-follow-up discussions.
