BoxUnion Santa Monica

AAYEESHA ESSUE I absolutely love BoxUnion! I’ve been coming here since late January and it’s still one of the best parts of my routine. The staff is amazing-friendly, down-to-earth, and genuinely supportive. Unlike other gyms that can feel a bit pretentious, this place feels real and welcoming. Every class is high-energy and different, which keeps things fresh and exciting. I’ve definitely gotten stronger and fitter since joining. If you’re looking for a fun, motivating, and authentic workout experience, BoxUnion is a must!

Row House Fitness Santa Monica

Kim Buehlmann This was my first time at the Row House and I already can’t wait to go again!! Everyone there, coaches and class goers alike, were SO nice, welcoming, and friendly. I did a Thursday night row with Coach Jackson where we spent the whole time on the erg (no weights/floor work) who kept us HYPE the whole time. The music, lighting, and singing were well worth the trip to Santa Monica. I sweat my butt off but had the best time doing it!!!

[solidcore] Santa Monica

Yamit Florentin A friend of mine told me about Solidcore after I mentioned it to her, I noticed they were on ClassPass. She said she saw a change in her body and that the workouts at Solidcore made her much stronger. On ClassPass, one session here cost me 14 credits (!), so Im guessing they are highly recommended and requested by the fitness community. I scheduled a session for Sunday at 8 a.m. with Anthony. This wasn’t the beginner class, but still, I could do most of the movements with Anthony helping me adjust the Pilates reformer machine. He mentioned that they offer a beginner class where the instructor cues the breaks, the lights are on, and they take it slow. Even if you are in good shape, you will find Solidcore workouts to be challenging. I can definitely see how it could make your muscles stronger, toned, and defined. Overall, it was a great experience, Anthony was motivating and very helpful. He is new to the studio, so give him a try! Studio: Cubbies ✔️ Filtered water ✔️ Water bottles/ drinks for sale ✔️ Bathrooms ✔️ No showers ❌ Street parking (by the meters).

Amp Association

Jillian Farren I’ve been a member of amp association for over a year now and it has been the best decision I’ve ever made! I moved to LA a year prior and found it hard to meet new people. Once I moved closer to Santa Monica, I searched for gyms that had a welcoming atmosphere, community building events, top tier coaching, accountability and I’ve found all those things in amp. The owners Alex and Ahnna also make it a point to know every member that joins the gym, making it feel like family. If you’re looking for a place to push yourself physically and build new friendships, this is the place for you!

JOHN REED Fitness

Patrick Martin IMO top gym in Santa Monica - newer weights/equipment than Equinox and a fraction of the cost! Solid array of free weights, machines, and cardio equipment + a CrossFit training space and turf for sled work and an outdoor area to take in some of that SoCal Vitamin D! Staff up front are always helpful and friendly, and the gym is as clean as a whistle. Smoothy bar and DJ are the cherry on top! And of course, like everywhere in Santa Monica, full of fit, beautiful people! Can’t comment on the classes because they’re not my thing but seems like they have a large variety with lots going on everyday. Only gripes: no sauna, could use more intense cardio equipment like a Jacob’s Ladder or curved self powered treadmill (assault style), as well as some of the influencer types seem to leave their weights and mats on the ground and then bounce - come on people!
