Jeanne Miller Winnie was referred to me for a curly mullet cut. I got lucky with a call ahead appointment. She gave me exactly what I asked for with a reference photo, and she encouraged me to take around the ears a little shorter. Im very happy with how it came out! Very nice and efficient, and she styled it with product before I left. You cant beat this price in the city. Bonus: the cable car runs right past the shop!

Lisle Winters I had my hair cut here by Mari a couple of weeks ago and it was such a great experience! She was really friendly and easy to talk to, and I felt like she was really listening when I described what I wanted and didnt want in my cut. She asked good questions and offered helpful styling tips. I hadnt had my hair cut for a while and she didnt make me feel weird about it, which is an attitude I have encountered elsewhere. I am thrilled that this salon is located in my neighborhood and will definitely be back for my next cut, which I am already thinking about. Highly recommend this place :)

Nina Dobner Deb is just the greatest. She designed and built out the salon herself, and it’s a beautiful space. As a hairdresser, she is incredibly talented. She can do EXACTLY what you want (if you are particular), or offer suggestions when you want inspiration. I have had her do everything from pink to purple to green. I’ve had a grey stripe, I’ve covered my grays to my “natural” brown. I’ve had edgy haircuts and conservatives ones. I love her! (Also, she is the sweetest person ever!)

Marie S Bjornson My husband and I both go to Deb for all things hair. Cuts, color, style recommendations, products, you name it. Not only is she incredibly talented on both mens and womens hair (you can give her a picture of a cut you want, and shell give you something better) but you always get a great experience at her salon. From the vintage chic atmosphere, to a drink while you wait, to her eclectic vinyl music selection, to the easy going nature of everyone who works there, shes got it all. Brooke Poole Booked with Faith last week. Uhh, this is the best haircut Ive ever had by far, and Im 33 years old. At one point during the session she was like "Hey, I have an idea for your hair to change it up a little." I told her to go for it and Im very lucky I did. Ive never felt so comfortable in a haircut this quickly after having one. Now a week in and I cant believe how good it still looks, so it wasnt just styling either. Anyway, its nuts. Michelle Du New 2nd location of Just Cuts from around the corner! Owner has 18 years of experience and could not be kinder and sweeter! This new salon is named after his wife and other location is run by his son now. Haircut and wash were very deliberate, and he only uses scissor cutting technique, no razor. For my very thick and long hair, he did a great job of cutting off weight and adding texture and layers to give it life! Very reasonable prices for a great cut, with the service and cleanliness youd expect from a more expensive salon! Plan to make this my regular spot going forward

Alina Bergelson Principle Salon provides incredible services, with talented and professional colorists/stylists, and a warm, elevated salon experience. I had the pleasure of having Alx, the salon owner, work on my hair. She is truly a gem, and considers all aspects of your unique hair texture/style before she begins. She starts her session with a full consultation of how she will tackle this hair experience with you, mastering the art of communicating what you want vs. need, and what your hair can handle. I have very fine hair so it was nice to hear her incorporating hair breakage concerns in her consultation, while balancing that with your desired end result. The products they use are top-notch and focus on low toxicity, which was an important factor for me when selecting the right salon. I will definitely be back at Princple Salon!

Ive been going to Erin S. for over a year now, and she has built up an incredible amount of trust with me through several haircuts and color sessions. G_E_K Such a lovely, welcoming salon! And the haircut I received from Erin is absolutely perfect! Erin is meticulous and serious about her work. She listened carefully to what I wanted and I came away with a haircut that was better than what I had asked for! In particular, she seems to have listened when I told her I do nothing whatsoever to style my hair – no curlers, no blow dryer, no flattening iron, etc. The way she cut my hair makes it fall perfectly into place without any effort on my part at all. Robin Meyerhoff David Dieguez is simply the BEST! Since I started doing to him, Ive received so many compliments on my hair! David always manages to make me feel chic and does something slightly new each time, so I dont feel like Im getting the same old cut. Hes worked a lot in the fashion industry and has a great sense of what works for my (wavy and gray) hair and face.

Heba Al I rarely ever write bad reviews unless Im just extremely unhappy with the service I received. I went in to see Ivy for a curly haircut. She assured me that she is experienced with curly hair and can give me a great cut. I booked my appointment six months in advance and patiently waited. I wanted a simple trim that will give my hair a good even shape with face framing and I expressed that very clearly to her. All was going well until she put me under a standing hair dryer that just dries the top of your hair. I expected to get my hair diffused because thats standard for curly hair. She left me there for 30 mins then disappeared. It was so hot, my scalp got burnt and the majority of my hair was wet. By then, I was so uncomfortable and in pain that I just wanted to leave. I paid $200 with tip. When I went home, I washed my hair because whatever she put in it was so crunchy and my hair was wet. I diffused my hair then I realized that my face framing was so uneven, I grabbed my shears and tried to even them out. I also realized a few thick strands of hair hanging low at the end because she didnt cut things evenly. I also took shears to them and cut them to match the rest of my length. Oh and I had to put aloe on my poor red scalp! Ive genuinely never had anyone dry my hair this way before. I felt like she was rushing. Had she styled and dried my hair appropriately, she maybe would have noticed the uneven haircut. Expecting a dry, styled and even haircut after such an expensive experience is asking for the bare minimum. Perhaps I should have booked with Geno but I didnt know any better. The salon itself is very lovely and clean and the people there are very nice.

Shwetha Guru Online reviews were no match to truly capture the delightful Hair of Gods salon. Its tucked away in Fell street and as soon as you enter the door you are transported into another world. I had an appointment with Geno who owns the salon and he is a delight!!! I went in for a haircut and it was the best 1 hour I ever spent. Geno is super friendly and took the time to consult with me and we arrived upon the haircut I would need to tame my wispy tresses. He explained the entire process as he cut my hair, how my hair would fall and what products I should use, to achieve just-out-of-salon look everyday. Geno has a very full appointment book so while it takes a while to get an appointment, its totally worth the wait.

Olivia David I recently had balayage and haircut from Hilary as a hair model, and am very happy with the results! Both the cut and color were exactly in line with what we talked about at the beginning of the appointment - I wanted something super low maintenance and Hilary made sure to consider that, and made suggestions about color when I wasnt exactly sure what would best suit my coloring, that ended up looking great. Hilary and everyone else at the salon were super friendly and fun - would definitely recommend and go back!

Kenny Nieh Lisette is a phenomenal, inclusive, and talented hair stylist and color expert. Ive been going to her since 2018 and each cut, styling, and color Ive experienced with her has been transformative, affirming, and fun. Shes really good at listening to your feedback as well as exchanging ideas for where you can take your hair. Ive learned so much about my hair through her care and see so many possibilities for where I can take my hair journey with her. Gregory Anderson-Rosendahl This was a first...The haircut and coloring were the BEST ever. I am very particular about my hair and usually, I leave a Salon feeling like I wont know the outcome until I get home. This time. I loved everything about it. Miss Mari I wish I could give more than 5 stars for Lisette! She has been my stylist for the last two years, and followed to her new location at Spunk. Danny Callahan Wyatt saved my hair! I came in to Spunk for the very first time with a challenge case - overprocessed, bleach-damaged, grown-out wavy hair that had been through several bad haircuts. I happened to be visiting SF and decided to see if I could find a better place than my hometown has to offer and I’m SO glad I did! Wyatt was kind enough to squeeze me in rather last minute and absolutely worked a miracle on my hair and got it back into shape. Not everyone can manage wavy/curly hair properly and they totally dominated my hair into behaving! :) I will definitely be back on my next trip! Thank you!!!

Yvette I have been commuting over an hour to see Lisette and I can assure you that it is worth driving over that Bay Bridge. Spunk Salon, is easy to locate and at a wonderful location in the Castro. When you enter you don’t feel overwhelmed the space is very welcoming and the light that comes through the windows complement and brighten it up. Now back to Lisette, she always has a genuine smile on her face and welcomes you. Once I sit in that chair I have no hesitation to ask her what she thinks will suit me when I don’t even know where to start. I love the way Lisette livens up my hair by cutting and shaping my bangs, they can be shorter than what I am used to and I look good! I must also point out the biggest ego boost is getting compliments on your hair from people younger than you.

Saya Hayashi Located inside a cute studio, Sho provides amazing service and is very professional. Ive loved all haircut styles by him including long, short, bangs, and colors too. Its so rare to find someone that can treat Asian hair so well with a variety of fun colors and balayage. He also provides shows to watch since coloring can take a long time but it goes by so fast when youre watching something!

Justin Louie Sho is very professional and has a great talent. Truthfully, I don’t trust anyone else with my hair except him. Pricing is incredibly fair, and overall he really just knows what he’s doing. Thank you again Sho!

Henny Gino is amazing and great with blonde highlights! It has been over 6 months since I received color and a haircut and I was scheduled with Gino. The highlights were perfectly blended and my hair left the salon in great condition. The style was beautiful and it lasted for about a week. Looking forward to seeing Gino again soon.

Lara Blasko I was able to book a last minute haircut with Michelle and she did a great job! She listened to what I wanted and asked really good questions to make sure I could achieve the style on my own before she started cutting. Michelle also provided helpful recommendations on products and a routine I could build to make styling my hair easier. My hair looks great and she was able to cut achieve the look I was going for! I felt like I was in good hands with Michelle and would recommend her to others.

Rachel K Absolutely LOVED my haircut by Meg! I got a curly cut - she very thoughtfully assessed my hair before cutting and then did the cut according to my wave/curl pattern. She really knew what she was doing and gave me the exact haircut I was wanting! She was also super nice and great to talk to and gave very valuable curly hair advice. They listened to my concerns regarding my fine hair and it was clear throughout my service that hair health is a priority here. There was no pressure to know exactly what I wanted, and he was very receptive to any feedback throughout my appointment. For the first time in a long time, I was finally able to relax (rather than anxiously watching like a hawk, worried that the stylist might cut too much off or change plans on me). Mark Wheeler Tanya is talented and experienced and it shows. I get my hair dyed blue and cut into punky shapes and she has the vision and execution to make it look better than anything I could even imagine myself. I have wavy/curly hair which some stylists dont understand how to work with but she gets it. Her skill with bleach and dye makes my hair color last multiple times longer than anyone else has ever been able to get. She does great work on more traditional styles too as Ive seen with other friends and customers.

Odio Daniel R. (DROdio) Tanya is incredible. Both my wife and daughter swear by her. We are at Tanya’s pirate salon right now and she’s cutting my daughter’s hair. Tanya is so patient in understanding what hairstyles my daughter might want, and taking through various options. And she’s been cutting and coloring my wife’s hair for a decade.
